The Museum was established on the basis of the world's largest collection
of works by the House of Fabergé.
The items of greatest value in the collection are nine Easter eggs made by artisans employed by the House of Fabergé for the last two Russian emperors. They are all masterpieces of jewelry art and have unique historical value, as they are linked to the reign and personal lives of Alexander III and Nikolai II.
Today, Fabergé Museum's collection is made up of over 4000 display items which also represent the many different things created by the House of Fabergé: Easter masterpieces, fantasy-themed objects, jewelry, miscellaneous small items, silverware, home decor and objects of worship.
The State Russian Museum is the world’s largest depository of Russian fine art, housed in a unique architectural complex in the historical centre of St Petersburg.
It was the first museum of national art, initiated by Emperor Alexander III.
The ceremonial opening of the Russian Museum took place on 19 (7) March 1898. The basis of the collection consisted of objects and works of art transferred from the Winter, Gatchina and Alexander Palaces, from the Hermitage and the Academy of Arts, as well as from private collections donated to the museum.
The museum collection contains over 440,000 exhibits covering all major periods and trends in the history of Russian art, all main types and genres, trends and schools of Russian art over more than a thousand years: from the 10th to the 21st century.
Visit The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood and The Kazan Cathedral
Kazan Cathedral, constructed between 1801 and 1811 by the architect Andrei Voronikhin, was built to an enormous scale and boasts an impressive stone colonnade, encircling a small garden and central fountain. The cathedral was inspired by the Basilica of St. Peter's in Rome and was intended to be the country's main Orthodox Church. After the war of 1812 (during which Napoleon was defeated) the church became a monument to Russian victory. Captured enemy banners were put in the cathedral and the famous Russian Field Marshal Mikhail Kutuzov, who won the most important campaign of 1812, was buried inside the church.
The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood in St. Petersburg is an Orthodox Memorial Church of the Resurrection of Christ, constructed in memory of Emperor Alexander II who was mortally wounded in an attack in this place on March 1, 1881. The cathedral was built as a monument to Tsar-Martyr. The cathedral is located in the historic center of St. Petersburg, on the banks of the Griboyedov Canal near Mikhailovsky Garden and the Konyushennaya Square, not far from the Fields of Mars. The height of the nine-domed cathedral is 81 meters, capacity - 1600 people. The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood in St. Petersburg is a museum and a monument of Russian architecture.

Options to choose: 1. Yusupov Palace and St Isaac's Cathedral
2. Tsarskoe Selo State Museum and Heritage Site
Yusupov Palace on the Moika River is a pearl of architecture and cultural heritage of St. Petersburg. This 18th century monument, which belonged to the famous Yusupov family (one of the richest Russian families at that time), combines the splendor of historical luxury with the atmosphere of a private estate.
Today the palace is open to visitors as a museum of federal significance, preserving unique evidence of Russian history and culture.
In the Yusupov Palace on the Moika River you can see authentic interiors reflecting the rich history of the Yusupov family, as well as famous works of art decorating its halls.
Designed by the architect Auguste Montferrand, St Isaac’s Cathedral is an outstanding monument of mid-19th century late Russian Neo-Classicism. Noteworthy is the Cathedral’s interior decoration, representing all forms of monumental and decorative arts – painting, sculpture, mosaic and colored stonework. Its main iconostasis is adorned with columns of malachite and lapis lazuli, while the main altar features the stained glass Christ Risen, a feature rarely seen in an Orthodox church.
The palace-and-park ensemble of Tsarskoe Selo (the Tsarskoe Selo State Museum and Heritage Site) is a superb monument of world-ranking architecture and garden-and-park design dating from the eighteenth to early twentieth centuries. A whole constellation of outstanding architects, sculptors and painters made the ideas of their crowned clients a reality here. Tsarskoe Selo is a cluster of very fine examples of Baroque and Classical architecture and it was also the first place in the Russian capital where interiors decorated in the Moderne (Art Nouveau) style appeared.
